It was blazing hot, and there is NO AIR-CONDITIONING in the few studios we were allowed to enter. ![]() You can read the Screen Gems website and learn far more than these tour-guides seemingly know! There were 2 other guides, who spoke very little at all, and were also unprepared to 'teach the crowd. She told us she was lost (?!?!)Īround the various sets, because "they've changed this since I was last here!!" (huh? isn't she the GUIDE? who's supposed to know what's going on?) In addition, she was completely at a loss for answers when presented with reasonable questions from the crowd. I find this SO fascinating!!!" and then would repeat herself over and over. the food in the refrigerator is fake.the appliances aren't plugged in. Items such as "we don't have running water on the sets. The main tourguide should NOT be leading tours she would fixate on The Screen Gems tour (7/24/04) was a TOTAL waste of time and money!! The tour consists of entering 2 or 3 buildings only, led by supposedly informed studio guides. ![]() It was fun, enjoyable and you could tell that the tour guides loved what they did. SGS offers tours when they are able solely for the purpose of pleasing the public.Īs far as the tour itself, I had the opportunity to experience it in the summer of 2014. I really wish people would rate based on their experience at the tour rather than because they weren't offering tours at the time you were in town. Once a show or movie ends, they break everything down and sell/donate what they can in order to make room for the next production. Also, it's worth noting that this is still a working facility so they can't keep all of the props and sets on location as it would take up space. Due to props & sets being the intellectual property of the show, SGS doesn't own the rights. Therefore they can't just show whatever, whenever. Screen Gems doesn't actually produce anything, instead they rent out their stages & equipment for use. The studio is purely at the mercy of the production companies that come to use their facility. As someone who works in the film industry I thought I would offer some explanation as to why this studio doesn't offer tours year round. ![]()
